Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee
Initially established by the 72nd Texas Legislature in Senate Bill 1340, the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) serves educators and informal science providers throughout the state. To encourage and support the breadth of environmental education, TEEAC designated the following 10 core themes:
- Soil & Land Use
- Water Quality
- Air Quality
- Communities & Ecosystems, including Human Population
- Wildlife & Domestic Animals
- Plants, Food, & Fiber
- Aesthetics & the Built Environment
- Minerals, Energy, & Resource Recovery
- Hazards
- Society, Economics, Politics & Culture
TEEAC maintains a network of providers of environmental education professional development, including universities, local and state agencies, museums, and nature centers. These providers meet yearly with Texas Education Agency staff for cross-disciplinary professional development related to environmental education. The TEEAC Providers network helps ensure that teacher professional development is educationally sound and consistent with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Educators may earn an environmental education Certificate of Recognition by receiving professional development from TEEAC providers.
- TEEAC Providers 2025-2026. This list is updated yearly.
- Coursework Verification Form. Once an educator has compiled 45 hours of TEEAC-provided professional development, they may complete an application.
TEEAC Providers offer professional development to educators and/or environmental experiences to students that incorporate the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The network of TEEAC Providers helps ensure that teacher professional development is educationally rigorous and consistent with the TEKS. The TEEAC Providers List is updated periodically. To be included in the next iteration of the Providers List, or to make changes to your organization’s description or contact information, please complete the Providers List Update Form. To ensure that you receive regular updates, such as Providers List update notifications, please email Liz Baker to subscribe to the TEEAC Newsletter.
To become a TEEAC Provider, an institution must provide professional development to educators and/or provide educational opportunities for Texas students. To be included on the Providers List, institutions or organizations complete the Providers List Update Form and a Program Description Form for each workshop or other program offered. If your organization is not already a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) provider, please send questions to the CPE Help Desk.
The TEEAC Annual Providers' Meeting is held each January; participants can attend in-person and virtually. Texas Education Agency staff provides cross-disciplinary professional development related to environmental education and other state curriculum issues and initiatives to program representatives from the TEEAC Providers network.
